At Downtown Yoga in Pleasanton, our mission is to provide a warm environment to experience the benefits of yoga. Our experienced staff is dedicated to teaching you how to reclaim your inherent health and well-being. Yoga is beneficial to the body, mind and spirit. Performing yoga postures strengthens all muscle groups, increases flexibility, develops proper body alignment and helps to increase energy flow. The practice of yoga brings the emotional, mental, spiritual and physical aspects of the individual into harmony. Downtown Yoga is a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance
History
- Established in 2002.
- Kate Coughlin – Director – opened Downtown Yoga in March 2002 after 11 years as Creator of the Yoga Program at Stanford University from 1989 – 2000. We teach to all-levels of yoga student. We especially cater to the “first-time-brand-new-got-to-do-something” Yoga student! All shapes, sizes, ages, attitudes and levels of fitness welcome. Our yoga practice is for everybody. We provide daily classes, special weekend workshops were you can delve into your practice, 3-day to 14-day retreats, and a very in-depth Advanced Studies Program.

Kate C.
Kate Coughlin is a 500-hr Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and the Director of Downtown Yoga. Â From 1989 to 2000 she created and led the Yoga Program at Stanford University -working for the Athletics Department. Â Kate received her BS Degree in Movement and Modern Dance from Evergreen State University in Washington in the late 1970’s. Â She has practiced yoga since the early 70’s.
